The health fair will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 at the Columbiana First Baptist Church. Shelby Baptist Medical Center’s Senior Care Unit, New Beacon Hospice of Alabaster and Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation Center are the sponsors.
“This first annual Caring For Your Community Health Fair promotes health and wellness in our community,” event coordinator Shane Armstrong said in a press release about the event.
“Members of the community will have the opportunity to learn from booth exhibitors as well as receive a variety of health screenings. This outreach event aims to educate members of the community on maintaining and improving their health,” Armstrong said.
Vendors will provide information about services and educational materials on health and wellness topics affecting people in the community.
Available services will include a health screening involving blood pressure and eye and vein screenings for the entire family. There will be information regarding Medicare and Medicaid, VA benefits, long-term care and rehabilitation, and financial planning.
Some vendors will present information on diabetes and skin care. Door prizes and demonstrations will be available throughout the health fair that is free and open to all ages.
